It’s football season, which in my house means all Saturday plans must be cleared with the husband first. He’s wants to be home, or at least near a TV, when the key games are on.
If you’re planning a football party, or three or four, check out this recipe for Italian Sub Dip.
Molly Winsten, who grew up on the Space Coast and now runs a gluten-free bakery in Boston, came up with the recipe. Here’s a link to a TikTok video of her making it.
This recipe makes a lot, enough to feed a crowd. But it should come with a warning label. It’s kind of addictive.
Is it fall yet?
Maybe. Sorta. Kinda.
OK, not really, but it’s noticeably cooler lately, which makes me want to sit outside and enjoy some people watching while eating lunch. That is until the breeze dies down or one of our late summer rain storms hit.
That’s why this time of year, it’s good to have options when dining out. With this in mind, restaurant writer Lyn Dowling gave us a list of 10 places in Cocoa Village that serve lunch and have both indoor and outdoor seating.
Free coffee at Scooters
National Coffee Day isn’t until Sept. 29, but Scooters, which has a location at 833 Osceola Drive, Rockledge, is celebrating all month.
Drive-thru every day in September to get a free cup of coffee, including medium or dark roasts or popular flavors such as Caramelicious, Scooter Doodle or French Vanilla.
Scooters also is celebrating fall with new menu items that include Pumpkin Caramelicious Muffins, Pumpkin Spice Cake Bites and Maple Waffle Sandwiches.
Walk-Ons adds bone-in wings to menu
After two decades of “winging it” with just boneless wings, Walk-On’s Sports Bistreaux, is introducing three flavors of bone-in wings to its menu: Buffalo, Sweet Chili and Lemon Pepper Dry Rub.
Walk-On’s has a location at 8550 Napolo Drive, Viera.
All flavors of bone-in wings will be available as an order of eight wings, eight wings with fries or 12 wings.
“Our journey started with a simple desire to create a place where friends and families could come together to enjoy sports, good company, and exceptional food,” said Brandon Landry, founder of Walk-On’s.
The bone-in wings come just in time for football season.

Pumpkin spice at Starbucks
Starbucks is celebrating the 20th anniversary of the Pumpkin Spice Latte, plus new fall beverages.
Since its launch in 2003, the Pumpkin Spice Latte has become a cultural icon, and, according to a Starbucks press release, the coffee shop’s most popular seasonal beverage.
Other fall flavors returning to Starbucks, which has locations across Brevard, are Pumpkin Cream Cold Brew and Apple Crisp Oatmilk Macchiato.
New to the fall menu are Iced Apple Crisp Oatmilk Shaken Espresso, which combines Starbucks Blonde Espresso with notes of apple, cinnamon and brown sugar, shaken together and topped with oatmilk for a smooth, balanced sip full of fall flavor; and Iced Pumpkin Cream Chai Tea Latte, which pairs a blend of spiced chai notes with pumpkin cream cold foam and a dusting of pumpkin spice.
