55 Perfect Pear Recipes to Turn to When You’re Over Apples

55 Perfect Pear Recipes to Turn to When You’re Over Apples

The best pear recipes for breakfast, dinner and dessert are right this way! Fall brings an abundance of pears—from Asian and Anjou, to Bosc, Bartlett and Comice pears—so we’ve rounded up 55 ways to put this delicious bounty to good use whether you’re baking, cooking or whipping up pear-infused cocktails this season.

When are pears in season?

Depending on the variety of pears, you can find pears in season between August and October.

What can I do with lots of pears?

If you have bushels of pears waiting to be used up, you’re in the right place! Whether it’s a savory recipe like Pear Flatbread Pizza, or a pear dessert like Grape and Pear Cobbler, the possibilities are endless for what you can make with pears.

Large-batch recipes like Pear Applesauce is another great idea, or you can add pears in a fresh salad. I also love the versatility of pear cocktails like this Sparkling Apple Pear Sangria!

Can you freeze fresh pears?

You sure can! To allow them to keep their best texture, soak sliced ripe pears in a bath of salted ice water for about 15 minutes before rinsing and laying them on a lined baking sheet in the freezer until frozen solid.  Once they’re solid, you can add them to a heavy duty freezer bag and they’ll be good for whenever you want to add them to one of these pear recipes.
